An old fort in Rajasthan, India with a rich history was being transformed into a luxury, heritage hotel and required a name and identity that spoke to their historic aesthetics, deep sense of place while also conveying a splash of excitement.
The target market were discerning, wealthy tourists wanting holidays with cultural depth. I drew upon the history and age of the fort to arrive at the concept of the hotel as 'a portal into the past' – providing opportunities for interesting framing devices. I chose the name Dvaar as it comes from the Hindi word for doorway. The logo and colour scheme were inspired by Rajasthani architecture with its rich, earthy colours and delicate patterns.
